End to end Defence Training system (LEARN)
Centiant has a long history of providing IT solutions to the Ministry of Defence. We have recently delivered several IT training solutions based on our LEARN design. The LEARN design is an OFFICIAL SENSITIVE service that provides students and staff with a secure training platform allowing learning to continue outside of the classroom environment.
The customer’s existing training solutions were delivered over a number of systems with students tied to a desktop based system with no wireless connections in the onsite accommodation blocks.
The initial site (Lyneham) was contracted through a general further competition through a now obsolete framework. Following the success of Lyneham, a further three sites were awarded as direct award services through RM1045.
Solution and Outcome
The Centiant solution had secure wireless at its heart. We installed new passive infrastructure across hundreds of buildings on each site including classrooms, accommodation blocks and social areas. This enabled Centiant to deliver a Cisco Wireless solution across the site allowing users to access the LEARN network from any location. The wireless solution was connected to a Centiant designed and delivered dual core solution including SAN’s, Servers and core networking provided by EMC and Cisco. All protected by an accredited firewall solution. The service is supported through a combination of onsite and remote support staff with a mixture of public sector and industry provided staff.
Centiant has delivered it’s LEARN training solution to thousands of students. This LEARN solution allows classrooms to become common teaching spaces, enables students to work securely anywhere on and offsite. We delivered 1000’s of wireless access points and support 1000’s of staff and students.
